Well the college has a thing called student advisors that you go and talk to at the college of choice and they will set you up with all the paperwork you need to get started on filling out grant information.  That is what they are there for. your mom should not be paing cash, as a single mom your education should be paid for in full with grants.  Call the school or go there and ask for the finacial grant information.  It's really that easy!

Well all i can say is good luck to that.  I have been looking for the same thing.  No one, not even the government is givning hand outs anymore.  My suggestion, do what I had to and get a job. I was on wealfare for disability and could not survive off that with two children.  If my a chance you do find someone to help, tell me cause I sure could use it too.
